Every success starts with belief in yourself. But there is so much more.
Five things other than self-belief that you need for success.
Someone else's belief in you: Success has been and will always be a team effort. Whether you're a one-man shop or a factory of a thousand people you will need others to buy into your vision. Having a network of supportive family, friends, or mentors provides emotional backing, advice, and encouragement during challenging times.
Education and Training: You build the belief in yourself by educating yourself. Reading books and watching videos in the fields you want to be successful in will be the best tools to get you to your goals. You have access to all of the knowledge it takes to achieve anything in your life. I will guarantee that someone has done what it is that you are looking to achieve. Also find Mentors in the fields that you want to become a part of.
Opportunities: Success often depends on seizing the right opportunities. These could be job offers, partnerships, or market gaps that align with your skills and vision. The education and training that you do will allow you to be set up for these opportunities when they come along, also the education and training will lead to more opportunities to be put in front of you. Others belief in you also leads to opportunities by them telling others about you.
Health and Fitness: Physical and mental well-being are vital for maintaining the energy and focus needed to pursue your goals. Access to healthcare and a healthy lifestyle is key. The people in your group, business, and general life will be influenced by your health, which in return grows whatever it is that you're striving for.
Market Demand: For success, there must be a demand for your product or service. That demand starts with you. Demand is more than just a belief, it's a no excuse and nothing is going to stop me mindset. If you demand success, then success will come to you. But remember this as you achieve your success. IT TAKES TIME. MORE TIME THAN YOU THINK IT WILL. SO NEVER STOP OR GIVE UP.
In the beginning of 2008, I was in the painter's union making $35 an hour plus doing side work on the weekends. House, land, boat, money in the bank. Life was good.
At the end of 2008, the house, land, and money in the bank was gone. I worked for 12 different companies that year and averaged less than $9 an hour, plus no side jobs to be found.
The housing market had dried up and no one was building. Companies were closing and people were going bankrupt.
I HAD A CHOICE TO GIVE UP OR MOVE FORWARD IN MY OWN BELIEFS.
Fast forward to January 2010 and I had a conversation with my wife to open my own company. Her exact words were "I will support you no matter what you do as long as we can pay our bills and live life."
Her belief in me along with my kids helped me believe that what I was doing was the correct thing for all of us to move forward in our lives. Farrens Finishing was born.
So, I handed out flyers and went on Craigslist to look for work. Day after day looking and not finding anything. Day after day looking for new ways to find something to make some money.
Then little by little I would find a job to bid. (not knowing how to bid a job). So, I wasn't making any real money.
Little by little I would make connections. (not knowing what to do with those relationships). So, they would fade away.
Little by little I was losing belief in myself. (not knowing my wife and kids still had my back).
I did absolutely everything wrong for the first 7 years of my business. THEN
Then little by little I started to learn how to actually run a business.
I started reading books and watching business videos.
I started paying more attention to my customers and making stronger relationships.
I did 75 hard for my health and fitness. (plus my mental toughness)
I started to demand greatness in my life. (business and at home)
My opportunities started to become more, and my business started to grow. I figured out that what I focused on is what I would receive.
This simple (not easy) concept is now used in every aspect of my life.
I want to feel better physically, so I focused on my workouts and eating habits.
I wanted my faith to be stronger, so I focused on my Bible studies and prayers.
I wanted my relationships to grow, so I focused on how to help others with want they want in their life.
I wanted my business to grow, so I focused on a business plan and how to stick to it.
You were born to be successful.
You were born to be physically and mentally fit.
You were born to help others.
Success in your life doesn't mean you have to own a business or be the boss. Success in your life means you are living your best life and achieving the things you want in your life.
Start believing in yourself and everything else will grow around that (as long as you put the effort into it.)
YOU'RE WORTH IT MY FRIEND, SO STOP WASTING TIME AND GO AFTER THE SUCCESS THAT'S WAITING FOR YOU.
Good things to remember! Thank you for sharing your experiences of perseverance.
